16/10/2010 · I wish to attach a vise to my welding table. I intend to mill a dovetail slide and receiver block. The receiver will affix to the table while the slide will affix to the vise. The idea is to have a stable but removable fixture. I have no information on the appropriate technique for milling a dovetail. I have a 60 degree cutter.

The last thing you will want to do is invest in building a larger grain mill with metal rollers only to have the rollers develop rust or some other form of corrosion.
Hi there. I'm in the process of fabriing a thingamajig and want to cut some bolt slots (as opposed to simple drilled holes) in ~1/4" mild steel plate so that the piece is adjustable. Something like ~1" long by 3/8" wide. I don't have a mill, which I suspect would be the best tool for the job.

Not a good time for climb milling. I've done it both ways, with 1/4" stuff, I'd be real tempted by method one if I didn't have to make too many and it was simply for looks.

It doesn't look like much, but it works great, and it cost almost nothing to build. As a bonus, this ball mill can also be used as a rock tumbler, or a glass tumbler to make your own "sea glass" at home. To use the mill as a rock tumbler, just leave out the steel balls, add rocks, tumbling grit and water, and let it spin.
